about

(Sunday Night Song #1)

I wrote this song years ago - I can't remember exactly when. Parts of it sound like me the summer after my junior year of high school as I tried to figure out who I was after a year abroad, others like college sophomore me, learning how to own my decisions, others like graduated me staring out into adulthood and wondering what on earth was going to happen next.

I find it comforting that the song is somehow true for all of those versions of me, as true as it was for me yesterday when I recorded it in my bathroom. Enjoy! xo

lyrics

LYRICS:
movement through space isn't that special
everything moves in its time
even the trees with their roots buried deep
shift when the wind whistles by

and from the train, the horizon
was just a line between
that what we know and
that which we hope for

I never asked you my last questions
I didn't think at the time
I never knew it would matter to you
just how I made up my mind

and from the train, the horizon
was just a line between
that what we know and
that which we hope for

distance is only what you make it
crossing's just patience and time
mountains between aren't as high as they seem
it's up to you to decide

and from the train, the horizon
was just a line between
that what we know and
that which we hope for
